A lot of people ask us why we prefer to freehand some of our pieces, especially our Asian tattoos. It's because sometimes there's only so much you can transfer from paper to skin. The human body is unique and is definitely not flat; and no matter how we cut up the stencil sometimes it just doesn't fit properly, especially for arms/legs sleeves. This is why we freehand our pieces. We want to use the human body to give our pieces more power and more flow. We want the tattoo to fit your body as if it was always meant to be there.
Here's a picture of Master Ma freehanding some transition/end cap areas on a 3/4 Foo Dog + Samurai Mask cover up tattoo.
