• 1.Why is threadless flat back jewelry better? 

  Threadless flat back jewelry is sleeker, cleaner, and a much better fit. 

  • Cleaner aesthetic – the flat back sits flush with the decorative top, so you don’t have a long backing sticking out behind your ear. Even better when you have more than one earring.

  • Very comfortable to sleep on – you’re not getting stabbed by the long backings of traditional earrings. 

  • Easier to clean – it’s just a flat, smooth disk, with no crevices that collect crust or dirt.

  • Better and safer material – it’s made with 14k gold or implant grade titanium, which lasts longer and is safe for allergies and sensitive skin. 

  • Smoother healing – the flat back design prevents skin irritation and movement of the jewelry within the piercing. 

  • More stable – it stays put. No long backing to wobble around or get snagged in clothing.

  • Best for custom fit – flat backs come in various sizes, while butterfly backs usually just have one.
• 2.What materials do you use in Junipurr jewelry?

  We only use nickel free, 14k solid gold for our jewelry. The only exception is our pins which are made of steel; we do this to make them harder and less likely to break. Our gold is independently checked by approved assay offices and our certificates are available under Our Certifications page on the website.

• 3.Is Junipurr's gold ethically sourced?

  All our gold is ethically sourced and suppliers are supervised by the World Gold Council.

• 4.Do you pierce with needles or piercing guns?

  For safety and health reasons, we proudly say no to piercing guns. We only use single-use, hollow, tri-bevelled, Teflon coated, laser cut needles to pierce. All of our materials and jewelry are sterilized in a medical-grade statim sterilizing machine.

• 5.Will my piercing hurt?

  Yes, getting a new piercing can hurt. After all, you're poking holes in your body. Fortunately, they're over quickly and, for most people, the pain is minor. If you want a piercing but are worried about pain, don't worry, it's nothing you can't handle.

• 6.When can I change my jewelry after being pierced?

  A downsize is suggested usually around 6-8 weeks. Your piercer will tell you when you should go back to the studio for a downsize and depending on the piercing, you may also be able to change the decorative piece if you have a straight post installed.

  To switch your piercing jewelry into a hoop we need to make sure the wound is established enough that the change in shape will not cause an adverse reaction. You need to wait for the entire healing time.

• 7.How long will it take for my piercing to heal?

  Healing timelines vary depending on the piercing type and your body, and adherence to aftercare. To give you an idea of what to expect when getting a new piercing we've put together a guide on Piercing Healing.

• 8.How do I know if my piercing is fully healed?

  Most piercings have an estimated healing time that you can check in our Piercing Healing Guide. The best way to know if it's fully healed is to go for regular checkups with your piercer. At about 6-8 weeks we suggest downsizing most piercings, and that's a great time to evaluate progress.

  The most important things to remember on top of aftercare are: do not touch the piercing, do not sleep on the piercing, do not put regular pressure on the piercing, and downsize when your piercer advises. These are the habits that we see the best success.

• 9.When can I change my jewelry after being pierced?

  A downsize is suggested usually around 6-8 weeks, make sure you listen to your piercer when they're discussing this with you. When you downsize, depending on the piercing, you may also be able to change the decorative piece if you have a straight post installed.

  To switch something into a hoop is a whole other ordeal. We need to make sure the wound is established enough that the change in shape will not cause an adverse reaction. You need to wait for the entire healing time. For most areas in cartilage, this can range from 6 months to over a year. Visit your local reputable piercer to have a checkup if you're unsure.

• 10.Is my piercing infected? What is this bump?

  The best way to assess if a piercing is infected is to have one of our piercers inspect your piercing in person.

  Oftentimes, irritation can be mistaken for an infection. Irritation often shows in the form of the dreaded "piercing bump", and can be resolved if dealt with quickly. Immediate changes you can make to remedy irritation until you can visit one of our studios are:

  • Make sure you're not sleeping on it.
  • Never touch, turn, or rotate the jewelry.
  • Clean the piercing only twice a day with your sterile saline solution, and once in the shower with your antimicrobial soap.
  • Do not let wet hair sit on your piercing
  • Do not let anything put pressure on your piercing, like hats, helmets, earphones, headsets, headbands, etc.
• 11.Is my piercing infected? What is this bump?
